My name is Janis De Luna, and I am humbled to serve as the St. Anthony School principal. It is with great excitement that I welcome you back to our 2024-2025 school year! We are eager to serve our Harlingen and neighboring communities. At St. Anthony’s, education and our pursuit in forging a stronger relationship with Christ as each day progresses have always been key components in outlining the purpose of our mission.
Raised in Mission, Texas, I was deeply engaged in my hometown parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where I also taught CCD classes to elementary and middle school students. To this day, the echo of the not-so-distant church bells resonates with every corner of my heart. It is this love for Christ instilled in me as a young child that propels me forward and encourages me to believe that the heart of a child is the most fertile home to plant the seeds of faith, hope, and love. In addition, it is the steady and consistent cultivation of these seeds in both the home and the educational setting that allow for fruition to take place in the everyday aspects of our children.
During my time serving in education, I have worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, a director, and always, in every position, I can only pray that I be given the grace and wisdom to remain connected to the lifelong learner within.
As a principal at St. Anthony’s, this is a prayer I embrace for all of our students and staff.
The fuel that will drive our success this coming year will be the strength of our TRIAD: the student, the parents, and the educator.
St. Anthony’s is equipped with a powerhouse of educators! Our staff will continue to demonstrate that they have the utmost ability to foster all children academically and simultaneously nourish them both emotionally and spiritually. At our St. Anthony School, we prioritize the child’s holistic needs, while embracing the first educators—the parents.
We welcome all families and challenge you to clad yourself in courage. Take the step necessary to support your child in sowing the Christian values our times of today so desperately need and have faith that together, we can and will succeed in harvesting the promise that our children will walk a path of faith and demonstrate rigorous academic prowess.
As your new principal, the safety of your children will be my priority. It is one of our expectations that both the learning will be enriched with the experiences our campus family provides as well as the curiosity that will stem from the engaging delivery of instruction our teachers strive to tailor for your child daily.
I harbor no doubt that together, we will foster a holistic education that will embrace our children for all that they are and all that they will aspire to become!
Respectfully in service,
Dr. Janis De Luna
